Mercedes F1 deploys electric eActros 600 trucks for European race logistics, cutting carbon emissions

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team is rolling out the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 truck across all nine European Grand Prix races in 2026. The trucks will cover roughly 15,000 km over three months, moving race trailers and operational infrastructure. This expands on a 2025 pilot that transported the W16 race car to the Dutch Grand Prix on electricity alone. The shift targets logistics, one of the hardest areas for the team to decarbonize. Combined with HVO100 biofuel use that saved over 410 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2025, the electric trucks support the team's goal of Race Team Net Zero by 2030. The initiative also addresses Scope 3 supply chain emissions through supplier engagement and carbon removal investments.

Good to see F1 teams moving beyond offsets and into actual fleet electrification. 15,000 km on European roads is a real test for long haul EV trucks.

Agreed. The pilot last year was one race, now it is nine. That is a meaningful scale up. Curious what charging setup they use between Brackley and Monaco.

The article says 1600 km from Brackley to Monaco. That is a multi day drive. Would like to see the charging stops and downtime. Real world data matters more than press releases.

Fair point. The eActros 600 has a claimed 500 km range. So they need at least 3 charges on that route. If the infrastructure held up, that is a good sign for logistics fleets.

Worth noting they still use HVO100 for marketing trucks. So it is a blended fleet, not fully electric. But the 410 tonnes CO2 saved last year is a solid number.
