Mercedes-Benz Trucks has partnered with Hydro to integrate low-carbon, recycled aluminium into its reECONIC electric waste collection trucks. The project uses Hydro CIRCAL, a material containing at least 75% post-consumer scrap from old cars and buildings, to reduce the carbon footprint of vehicle production. This initiative focuses on circular manufacturing, aiming to keep industrial materials in a closed loop without sacrificing the safety or performance of commercial EVs. By replacing primary aluminium with recycled alternatives, the companies aim to lower the embodied emissions of heavy-duty electric fleets.
