Mercedes-Benz and Hydro Partner for Recycled Aluminium in Electric Trucks

Mercedes-Benz Trucks is collaborating with Hydro to integrate low-carbon, recycled aluminium into its reECONIC project. The initiative focuses on using post-consumer scrap to manufacture electric waste collection trucks, aiming to create a closed-loop system for critical materials. By utilizing Hydro CIRCAL aluminium, which contains at least 75% post-consumer scrap, the project seeks to lower the carbon footprint of vehicle production. This approach demonstrates how circular design can reduce industrial emissions while maintaining the performance and safety standards of commercial heavy-duty vehicles.
