Meliá Hotels International sustainability results 2025: Cusco solar hotel and global decarbonization progress
en.travel2latam.comMeliá Hotels International released its 2025 sustainability report, showing a 4.6% reduction in carbon footprint per stay and 85% of its global portfolio running on renewable energy. The company also reported a 31.6% recycling rate and 15% water reuse. These results come ahead of stricter EU transparency rules under the CSRD directive. A key example is the Hotel Cusco La Paccha in Peru, which uses a 40 kW solar panel system covering about 25% of its energy use. The hotel is working on better tracking and measurement to support a circular economy strategy. Meliá's global report also highlights partnerships for plastic removal from the Mediterranean and turtle egg rescue in Latin America.
