Meadows boutique hotel in the Cotswolds uses local stone, solar panels, and water reuse for low-carbon design
designboom.comPardini Hall Architecture has refurbished and extended an existing property in the Cotswolds to create The Meadows, a boutique hotel and restaurant. The design prioritizes local materials to cut embodied carbon, with a contemporary glazed link between two stone buildings and solar panels on the roof. Rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse for irrigation are part of the water management strategy, and the garden is treated as an active extension of the interior. The hotel includes a restaurant, spa, and quiet lounges, with large bifold doors opening to a courtyard to blend indoor and outdoor spaces. The project shows how a rural hospitality build can keep a strong sense of place while taking practical steps on energy and water efficiency. It is a useful reference for anyone tracking low-carbon building practices in the UK.
