McMaster University has expanded its Forest Nature Preserve by adding 14 acres of biodiverse land in West Hamilton. This expansion includes the Carbon Sink Forest and an Urban Environmental Monitoring Station dedicated to measuring greenhouse gas levels. The project, supported by the Patrick J. McNally Charitable Foundation and local landowners, creates a continuous natural corridor. This space allows researchers and students to monitor biodiversity and test environmental stewardship practices to improve carbon sequestration.
