Maxion Wheels Low-Carbon Truck Wheel Cuts CO2 Emissions by Over 50% for Daimler Truck
kamyonum.com.trMaxion Wheels has developed a next-generation low-carbon steel truck wheel for Daimler Truck's reECONIC project, reducing cradle-to-gate CO2 emissions by more than 50%. The wheel uses Electric Arc Furnace steel made from recycled scrap and weighs 32.5 kg, cutting its carbon footprint from 132.7 kg CO2 to 61.4 kg CO2. This component-level innovation shows how material sourcing and lightweight design can meaningfully lower emissions in heavy-duty vehicles. The wheel is part of a circular economy demonstrator and will undergo field validation in late 2026. It also highlights Turkey's growing role in producing advanced commercial vehicle components for European markets.
