Masdar has reached financial close on a $6.1 billion project that combines 5.2 GW of solar capacity with a 19 GWh battery storage system. The project is designed to deliver 1 GW of uninterrupted clean electricity around the clock, addressing the long-standing intermittency challenge of solar power. A consortium of 13 banks provided a $5.1 billion financing package, signaling strong investor confidence in large-scale renewable-plus-storage projects. The facility will serve growing electricity demand from data centers, AI, and manufacturing while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This is the first gigascale integrated solar and battery project to claim 24/7 renewable output. If executed successfully, it could set a benchmark for future round-the-clock clean energy developments globally.
