Masdar and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) are targeting a 30GW increase in solar capacity to drive the UAE's energy transition. This expansion is a central part of the national strategy to reduce carbon emissions and shift the power mix toward renewables. The initiative focuses on large scale solar deployment to support industrial and residential energy needs. By scaling up capacity, the UAE aims to lower the carbon intensity of its electricity grid and meet long term climate targets.
