Martijn Wilder has been involved in basically every major green finance institution in Australia. CEFC, ARENA, now the National Reconstruction Fund. Good to see that work get recognized, even if the article is light on what the NRF has actually funded so far.

The 50% renewable grid milestone is the real headline here. That is a structural shift that took 15 years of policy work. Wilder was in the room for a lot of that. But the article skips over how much of that came from rooftop solar vs utility scale.

Good point. Rooftop solar is huge in Australia but it also creates duck curve problems. Would be interested to know how much storage has been deployed alongside that 50% figure. The article doesn't mention curtailment either.

Wilder has been consistent on using public finance to de-risk private investment in clean energy. The CEFC model is actually pretty well regarded internationally. The article mentions his bipartisan appointments which is rare in Australian climate politics.

The bipartisan point matters. ARENA and CEFC survived multiple governments that tried to scrap them. That institutional durability is probably Wilder's real legacy. The article could have dug deeper into how the NRF is actually performing though.
