Interesting look at blue carbon. The link between fishery recovery and carbon storage is clear, but I wonder how they are quantifying the actual sequestration rates in Cambodia to make this a viable credit project.
That is the main hurdle. Without strict reporting standards and a clear baseline, these nature based projects often struggle with additionality. It is great for the local fish, but the carbon accounting needs to be airtight.
Blue carbon gets a lot of hype, but the physical protection of the coastline is the real immediate win here. Protecting the land from storm surges is a direct economic benefit that usually outweighs the carbon price.
