Exactly. The energy penalty for carbon capture is huge. If you are pulling massive amounts of power from the grid just to capture carbon, you might be offsetting the actual emissions gain unless the power source is completely green.

The point about European lifecycle standards is the most important part of this. You can't just claim it is low carbon. If the input energy is dirty, the product is rejected. That is a massive execution risk for any industrial plant.
