Malaysia Airports has expanded its carbon management efforts, with Penang and Kuching International Airports achieving Level 1 Airport Carbon Accreditation. This milestone follows similar achievements at Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu, while Kuala Lumpur International Airport has reached Level 3, reflecting more advanced emission reductions. The accreditation process requires airports to measure, report, and verify their carbon footprints. This framework enables the transition from basic monitoring to active decarbonization, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy deployment, and collaboration with airlines to reduce the overall environmental impact of aviation infrastructure.
