Malaysia Airports and MAG Deepen Aviation Decarbonisation Push with SAF, Solar, and CORSIA Units
klsescreener.comMalaysia Airports Holdings and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) are strengthening their collaboration on aviation decarbonisation, covering sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable energy, and operational efficiency. The partnership supports Malaysia's net-zero target as early as 2050 and includes a 36 MWp solar park at KLIA with 45 MWh of battery storage, expected to avoid about 35,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. MAG targets a 30 to 35 percent reduction in emissions intensity by 2030 and 40 to 45 percent by 2035, and it has retired 80,100 CORSIA-eligible emissions units. Malaysia Airports aims for net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2040, with selected Scope 3 by 2050. The initiative also covers terminal energy efficiency, ground vehicle electrification, and a 55 percent waste diversion rate by 2030. More detail on SAF volumes and procurement terms would make the roadmap easier to track, but the joint focus on coordinated infrastructure and investment is a concrete step for Malaysia's aviation sector.
