Lufthansa Group has signed a carbon removal credit agreement with Canadian developer Deep Sky. The deal focuses on securing future volumes of high quality credits generated through direct air capture and permanent storage to address emissions that are difficult to abate in aviation. This move comes as the airline prepares for stricter climate regulations and seeks to scale emerging carbon removal technologies. While the company faces stock volatility due to fuel costs and demand shifts, this agreement signals a long term commitment to durable carbon sequestration.
