Lufthansa Group has updated its climate protection strategy to prioritize technology-based CO2 removal and storage. The revised portfolio now features 14 certified projects across Europe and international markets, with carbon removal initiatives making up approximately 20 percent of the total mix. Beyond traditional avoidance projects, the airline is partnering with firms like Climeworks and Airbus to scale Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS). Passenger contributions in 2025 supported the removal or avoidance of over 710,000 metric tonnes of CO2.
