Lufthansa Group is investing 7.7 billion dollars to add ten Airbus A350-900 and ten Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to its fleet. These next-generation aircraft are intended to replace older, less efficient models to lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Deliveries are scheduled for 2032 through 2034. The move is part of a broader fleet modernization strategy to improve operational efficiency and meet environmental performance targets.

Replacing old jets with newer models is a start, but the real question is how this fits into EU emissions trading and SAF mandates. Efficiency gains are good, but they do not solve the hard to abate nature of long haul flight.
The delivery dates are 2032 to 2034. That is a long window. I wonder if these specs will still be cutting edge by the time they actually hit the tarmac or if they will be outdated by then.
