Lufthansa Group has signed a multi-year agreement with Senken to procure carbon removal credits. The deal includes a mix of engineered and nature-based solutions, specifically Direct Air Capture from Canada, industrial biochar from Bolivia, and regenerative agriculture projects in Germany. This move doubles the share of permanent carbon removals in Lufthansa's climate portfolio to approximately 20%. The airline is shifting away from avoidance credits toward durable removal methods to meet stricter climate integrity standards.
