Lufthansa Group has signed a multi-year agreement with Senken to procure carbon removals. The deal includes a mix of technological and nature-based solutions, specifically Direct Air Capture in Canada, industrial biochar from Bolivia, and regenerative agriculture projects in Germany. This move increases the share of permanent carbon removal in Lufthansa's climate portfolio to approximately 20%. The airline is shifting its strategy away from avoidance credits toward durable removals to meet stricter climate integrity standards.
