LTi Vessco wins £4.5 million Mitsubishi contract for carbon capture vessel at Padeswood cement facility

LTi Vessco has secured a contract worth over £4.5 million from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to manufacture a carbon capture regenerator vessel for the Padeswood carbon capture facility in North Wales. The 56-metre vessel will separate captured CO2 at a cement plant, with the CO2 then transported via the HyNet pipeline for permanent offshore storage. The project is expected to capture around 800,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. This contract highlights the growing role of UK heavy engineering in delivering equipment for carbon capture and storage projects. Mitsubishi is providing the capture technology, while Worley will build the facility. For LTi Vessco, the deal supports skills development and long-term investment in the region. The Padeswood project is a key part of UK industrial decarbonisation efforts, targeting emissions from cement production which is notoriously hard to abate.
