Low Carbon has started developing proposals for Dengie Peninsula Energy Park, a solar and energy storage project in Essex with up to 1 GW of capacity. The company says it could generate enough clean electricity to power more than 250,000 UK homes and avoid up to 265,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Because capacity exceeds 100 MW, the project will be treated as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project and needs a Development Consent Order. The design will follow an environment-led approach, with surveys and local feedback shaping the layout. Low Carbon plans to engage with the community, landowners, and statutory consultees over the coming months, followed by a wider public consultation in early 2027. The project also includes grid export infrastructure, energy storage, and areas for biodiversity enhancement.
