Low Carbon proposes 500MW solar-plus-storage NSIP in Oxfordshire
solarpowerportal.co.ukLow Carbon has unveiled plans for the West Oxfordshire Energy Park, a 500MW solar and storage project near Langford and Little Faringdon. As an NSIP, it will be decided by the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero rather than local planners. The developer plans public consultation in early 2027, with early engagement already underway with local parishes. The project would rank among the largest solar NSIPs in the UK, joining others like Tillbridge and Island Green. Low Carbon brings prior experience with NSIPs, including the 400MW Beacon Fen submission and the sale of the 500MW Gate Burton project to EDF. If approved, it would add substantial solar capacity and storage, supporting the UK's solar deployment targets while addressing grid stability needs.
