Researchers from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology have developed two sustainable building solutions focused on waste reduction and lower emissions. One project converts rice husk ash into porous silicate powders for construction, while the other creates non-fired bricks and panels from mining and industrial byproducts. These innovations aim to replace energy-intensive cement and traditional firing processes with low-energy alternatives. By utilizing agro-industrial waste, these methods reduce the carbon footprint of the construction industry and lower material costs.
