LOVOL Heavy Industry, a subsidiary of Weichai, has delivered several LT105E pure electric mining trucks to a large open pit mine in southern Hunan, China. The 70 ton payload trucks use a 425 kWh LFP battery with IP68 protection and can recharge in under one hour. LOVOL says the trucks are designed for high intensity earthmoving on steep gradients and rough terrain. The delivery is part of a broader push by Chinese mining equipment makers to electrify fleets under the country's dual carbon strategy. Weichai reported that its all electric powertrains for mining trucks have logged over 1 million hours of runtime, mainly in Inner Mongolia, with customers seeing a 66% reduction in operating costs. The company supplies batteries, motors, and electronic controls for battery electric vehicles and also owns LHY Powertrain, the former Linde Hydraulics. The LT105E uses a 425 kWh LFP battery with IP68 protection and fast charging that can recharge in under one hour, which is key for multi shift operations on steep gradients.
