Lotte and KAIST open joint R&D center in Daejeon for carbon-neutral tech, bioplastics, and green hydrogen
biz.chosun.comLotte Group and KAIST have opened a new joint R&D center on KAIST's Daejeon campus, backed by a 10 billion won building donation from Lotte. The center will focus on bio-sustainability, carbon-neutral energy and materials, and advanced food and healthcare. Research areas include biofuels, bioplastics, green hydrogen, renewable energy, and batteries. KAIST says the center will cover the full R&D path, from basic research to prototyping and commercialization. The two organizations have worked together since 2012, including a Lotte Chemical-KAIST Carbon Neutrality Research Center launched in 2022. The new building adds shared lab and collaboration space for Lotte and KAIST researchers.
