LONGi Wins 2026 Climate Lighthouse Award for Zero-Carbon Solar Manufacturing Heating System at Shanghai Climate Week
straitstimes.comLONGi Green Energy has been recognized as an Outstanding Case of the 2026 Climate Lighthouse during Shanghai Climate Week for its Battery Manufacturing Heating Self-Balancing and Zero External Heat Sourcing Project. The system restructures heating models in battery production to eliminate external heat sources, using waste heat recovery and power system coupling. It was first validated at LONGi's Weibei facility and then replicated at Gaoling and Tongchuan plants, offering a replicable low-carbon heating solution for manufacturing with strict environmental controls. This is LONGi's second Climate Lighthouse award, following their 2025 recognition for the Jiaxing production base, the solar industry's first dual benchmark of a Lighthouse Factory and Zero-Carbon Factory. The company also reported a 20% reduction in energy consumption per unit of output at Jiaxing through digital upgrades. LONGi is expanding from module supplier to scenario-based energy solutions provider, integrating solar with building-integrated photovoltaics, energy storage, and hydrogen. The company's climate governance includes a board-level Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee that reviews climate targets annually. LONGi also works with small and medium suppliers to lower carbon costs and provides local training in overseas markets to ensure green energy projects take root locally.
