The UK government has awarded £41 million to the London Strategic Heat Main, a project that will use the River Thames to transport hot water to homes and businesses across the city. The network, which will eventually serve up to 650,000 homes, is part of a £90 million package supporting heat networks across the UK, including extensions in Bradford and Solihull and upgrades to existing systems. The project is still subject to planning, but if delivered, it could unlock around £5 billion in private investment and support over 2,000 jobs. Other funded projects include a water-source heat pump system at Marble Arch and upgrades to serve residents in Manchester, London, and Wales.
