Studio Weave has completed a public toilet block in North Paddington using reclaimed Finnish granite and Norwegian larvikite. The stone was salvaged from a demolished office building in Broadgate, turning decorative cladding into a load-bearing structure to minimize the project's carbon footprint. The design focuses on the concept of an urban quarry, treating existing city buildings as reserves of high quality materials. By matching the building's dimensions to the available stone modules, the team reduced both processing costs and energy use during construction.
