London Mayor Khan says cities cause 70% of carbon emissions and must lead climate solutions at COP31
aa.com.trLondon Mayor Sadiq Khan said cities are responsible for about 70% of global carbon emissions and must be central to solving climate change. Speaking before COP31 in Antalya, Khan pointed to the C40 Cities network, which includes 97 major cities representing over 900 million people, and claimed two-thirds of those cities have already peaked their emissions. Khan also said COP31 will give mayors and regional leaders a formal role for the first time, a shift from past summits dominated by national governments. He linked urban action to air quality, green jobs in solar and wind, and electric vehicles. The summit is set to take place in Antalya next month.
