London Gatwick Airport has partnered with the Kent and Somerset Wildlife Trusts to invest approximately $1.3 million in nature-based carbon dioxide removal. The initiative focuses on converting degraded agricultural land into species-rich habitats, including wetlands and grasslands, to secure carbon in peat and soil. This investment aims to remove 10,000 tonnes of CO2e to offset residual emissions between 2030 and 2039. The projects are facilitated by the nonprofit Wilder Carbon and complement a larger $336 million capital program designed to reduce the airport's direct operational emissions.
