Payback depends on their daytime load profile. If they can self-consume most of that 100kW output and shift battery discharge into peak rates, it could be under 7 years. The EV chargers add another variable. Would be useful to see their estimated kWh savings.

The Development Bank of Wales green loan scheme is one of the more practical regional finance tools in the UK. Discounted rates and patient capital for exactly this kind of on-site generation. More useful than a lot of national grant programs that get bogged down in eligibility checks.

Agreed. But the article mentions they are replacing a defective biomass boiler with a zero-emission one. Would like to know what the replacement is. Heat pump? Electric? Biomass boilers can be finicky. Hope they factored in maintenance costs for the new unit.

With 215kWh storage they will likely self-consume most of it. Export might be minimal unless they get a good Smart Export Guarantee rate. The battery lets them avoid peak grid prices more than it helps with export revenue.
