Exactly. The equipment is one thing, but the site power infrastructure is the bottleneck. Do these zero carbon solutions include onsite storage or fast charging hubs, or are they assuming the local grid can handle the peak load?
Maintenance is the other big question. Electric drivetrains are simpler, but the battery replacement cycle for heavy mining gear is expensive. I want to see the actual TCO compared to diesel.
Interesting to see the push in China, but the global rollout depends on carbon accounting standards. If mining firms can't claim these as Scope 1 reductions due to dirty grid power, the incentive to switch drops.
