LG Electronics hits 2030 emissions and recycling targets early, adds AI ethics to sustainability report
biz.chosun.comLG Electronics published its 2025-2026 sustainability report, announcing it beat its 2030 greenhouse gas reduction target a year early. Total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from its global business sites were 842,000 tCO2eq in 2025, below the 2030 goal of 878,000 tCO2eq. The company credited high-efficiency equipment and a switch to renewable electricity for the reduction. Product use phase emissions also dropped 22.5% since 2020, exceeding the 20% reduction target set with SBTi verification. On resource circulation, LG achieved a 97.3% waste recycling rate at its sites, above the 2030 goal of 95%. It collected 640,000 tonnes of waste electronics across 56 countries last year. The report also includes a new section on responsible AI management, covering ethical standards and accountability for AI development and use. External ESG ratings remain strong, with inclusion in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index for the 14th consecutive year and an MSCI AA rating.
