LG Electronics hit its 2030 Scope 1 and 2 emissions target five years early, reporting 842,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2025 against a goal of 878,000 tonnes. That is a 54.6% reduction from 2017 levels, driven by energy-efficient equipment and a shift to renewable electricity across its sites. The company also cut use-stage emissions per unit by 22.5% from 2020, beating a 20% target for 2030. On waste, LG reached a 97.3% recycling rate across its operations, above its 95% goal, and collected 640,000 tonnes of used electronics in 2025. Cumulative e-waste recovery since 2006 now exceeds 5.65 million tonnes. The report also notes governance changes including separating CEO and board chair roles, and a new section on Responsible AI. The results show that a large manufacturer can move ahead of schedule on operational decarbonization and circular economy targets. The key question is how LG will set its next round of goals and whether it will extend reductions to Scope 3 supply chain emissions.
