Levi Strauss & Co. and Marks & Spencer have launched the Fashion Renewable Collaborative (FRC) with Schneider Electric's SE Advisory Services to help apparel suppliers switch to renewable electricity. The program targets textile mills and dye houses, which account for more than half of the industry's emissions. It offers digital training, market guidance, and support for power purchase agreements, energy attribute certificates, on-site generation, and storage. The FRC gives brands a shared way to engage suppliers, so factories do not get hit with conflicting demands from each buyer. World Resources Institute research cited in the announcement says shifting manufacturing to renewable electricity is the largest single decarbonization lever for apparel, roughly two-thirds of the sector's emissions reduction potential. The program is one of the first fashion industry collaborations focused specifically on delivering renewable electricity to suppliers rather than just setting targets.
