LanzaTech is developing a commercial-scale alcohol-to-jet facility at the North Sea Port in Ghent, Belgium. The 500 million euro project aims to produce 79,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel and 9,000 tonnes of renewable diesel annually using low-carbon ethanol derived from industrial emissions or agricultural waste. Backed by EU Horizon 2020 funding, the facility will use LanzaJet technology to convert ethanol into synthetic paraffinic kerosene. The project is designed to meet strict CORSIA, EU ReFuelEU, and UK SAF mandate regulations, with operations targeted to begin within five years.
