LanzaTech Increases Stake in LanzaJet After $20 Million Financing for Sustainable Aviation Fuel Scale-Up
esgtoday.comLanzaJet has secured at least $20 million in new financing to scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production at its Freedom Pines Fuels facility in Soperton, Georgia. The facility is described as the world's first commercial-scale alcohol-to-jet plant, with an annual capacity of 10 million gallons of SAF and renewable diesel. Fuel produced there already meets ASTM specifications, which is the key technical hurdle for actual aviation use. LanzaTech, which launched LanzaJet in 2020, is significantly increasing its ownership stake as part of a broader recapitalization and debt reduction effort. LanzaTech CEO Jennifer Holmgren will remain Chair of the LanzaJet Board and also serve as interim CEO. The financing follows full plant operation announced in late 2025, so the money is aimed at moving from first-of-a-kind demonstration to repeatable commercial projects.
