LANXESS has successfully tested its Lewatit MDS TP 108 selective resin at a Chemours facility in the Netherlands. The system removes over 99.9% of fluorinated organic compounds, specifically targeting short and ultrashort chain PFAS that typically bypass standard activated carbon filters. The treatment process uses a three stage system involving reverse osmosis, activated carbon for long chain compounds, and a final cascade of ion exchange resin vessels. The contaminated resins are then incinerated at high temperatures to permanently destroy the PFAS chemicals.
