LANXESS has successfully tested its Lewatit MDS TP 108 selective resin at a Chemours facility in the Netherlands. The technology removes over 99.9% of fluorinated organic compounds, specifically targeting short- and ultrashort-chain PFAS that typically bypass standard carbon filters and ion exchange resins. The treatment process uses a three-stage system involving reverse osmosis, activated carbon for long-chain PFAS, and a final cascade of selective resin vessels. The captured chemicals are then destroyed via high-temperature incineration to prevent environmental accumulation.
