The Union Territory of Ladakh is installing a 500 kWp on-grid solar photovoltaic plant on the rooftop of the NDS Ice Hockey Rink in Leh. The project, estimated at 2.38 crore rupees, aims to reduce electricity costs and lower the carbon footprint of the sporting facility. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to transition Ladakh toward becoming a carbon-neutral region. By integrating renewable energy into public infrastructure, the administration intends to create a scalable model for sustainable development in the ecologically sensitive Himalayan region.
