The carbon stock assessment, conducted by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in June, measured aboveground biomass at 177,135.3 kilograms and carbon stock at 83,253.6 kilograms. Standard forest inventory methods were used to produce the data, which the province says will serve as baseline for urban forest management and green space expansion. The assessment covers a mix of forest, fruit-bearing, ornamental, and palm species. The provincial government runs annual tree planting events on Arbor Day and other occasions, focusing on native Philippine species like Narra, Dao, and Kalantas. The effort is part of a broader push to use natural solutions for carbon offsetting and climate resilience in urban areas.
