Larsen & Toubro has set a target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040, three decades before India's national net-zero deadline of 2070. The engineering giant now generates 51% of its standalone revenue from climate-friendly businesses, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, carbon capture, and sustainable infrastructure. L&T has also launched India's first listed Sustainability-Linked Bond and secured a USD 700 million sustainability-linked trade facility with Standard Chartered. The company is investing in indigenous alkaline electrolysers for green hydrogen production, customised CCUS solutions for industrial decarbonisation, and grid modernisation to support higher renewable energy penetration. L&T is also contributing to the ITER nuclear fusion project in France. With water neutrality targeted by 2035 and carbon neutrality by 2040, the company is positioning itself as a leading climate-transition business in India.
