L&F, a South Korean battery materials maker, has received third-party verification for the carbon footprint of its cathode materials under ISO 14067. The verification was issued by LRQA and covers the company's product-level emissions accounting, from raw material sourcing to production energy use and waste treatment. This gives L&F a documented baseline for responding to customer requests for supply chain carbon data, including requirements tied to the European Union's battery regulation. Cathode production is energy intensive, so product-level carbon data is becoming a competitive factor for battery suppliers. L&F says it will refine its emissions data using ABB's smart factory life cycle assessment system and focus on cutting emissions in production, energy use, and raw material sourcing. The announcement does not disclose the actual carbon footprint per unit, but the verification is a concrete step toward more transparent battery supply chains.
