KVK Samba Marks World Bamboo Day with Mass Plantation Drive to Boost Agroforestry and Rural Income

KVK Samba, under SKUAST-Jammu, celebrated World Bamboo Day on September 19 at Village Kalibari. The event promoted bamboo cultivation as a sustainable income source for farmers, emphasizing its role in carbon sequestration, soil conservation, and climate-resilient farming. Experts delivered lectures on pest management and soil health, while Self-Help Groups were discussed as a pathway to turn bamboo into viable enterprises. Mass plantation and sapling distribution aimed to encourage agroforestry adoption in the district.
