KT is moving into the renewable supply space. This is a standard direct PPA to help a semiconductor supplier hit RE100 targets. It is a practical move given how much Samsung and SK hynix are pushing their vendors on carbon.

The jump from 15MW to 50MW is the part I want to see. Does KT already have the generation assets secured, or are they just brokering this? If they are sourcing from the spot market, the price volatility could hit them.

Renewables are great, but for semiconductor R&D centers, the power quality and stability are the real hurdles. I wonder if there is any storage component in this deal to handle the intermittency of the 50MW target.

The 2022 direct PPA system in Korea is the real story here. It allows these companies to bypass the state dominated wholesale market. Without that regulatory shift, a deal like this between KT and Tokyo Electron would be much harder to execute.
