Ksi Lisims LNG Signs Third International Offtake Deal with Santos, Adding 1 Million Tonnes per Year
energynow.caKsi Lisims LNG, a proposed floating LNG facility on British Columbia's north coast, has signed its third international offtake agreement. A Heads of Agreement with Australia's Santos covers 1 million tonnes per annum of LNG for 20 years, following similar deals with Germany's Uniper and SEFE. The project, backed by the Nisga'a Nation and Western LNG, would export up to 12 million tonnes per year and is expected to be Canada's second-largest LNG terminal. The project is still in development and has not reached a final investment decision. It was referred to Canada's Major Projects Office in November 2025 after receiving provincial and federal approval under the One Project, One Review process. Developers say the facility would have emissions 94 percent below the global average for LNG, though no independent lifecycle analysis is cited. The deal supports Canada's push to diversify natural gas exports beyond the U.S. market. Non-U.S. exports are projected to rise from less than 0.01 percent in 2024 to an estimated 55 percent by the early to mid-2030s if projects like Ksi Lisims reach operation.
