The KSD Sharing Foundation, run by the Korea Securities Depository, delivered 60 million won worth of eco-friendly air conditioning products and food to 400 energy-vulnerable households in Seoul. The funding came from a four-week step donation campaign called 'Let's Walk Together,' which used the Bigwalk app to track steps and convert them into donations. Over 7,600 participants, including employees and citizens, donated 383 million steps, far exceeding the 100 million step target. The foundation says this equals 268,656 kilometers walked and has the carbon reduction effect of planting 5,321 pine trees. The campaign also encouraged public transit use, energy conservation, and waste reduction. This program directly addresses energy poverty by helping low-income seniors, disabled families, and young people afford cooling in summer. It also promotes individual climate action through simple daily choices like walking more and using less energy.
