Researchers at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology have developed a catalyst system that converts carbon dioxide and hydrogen into liquid hydrocarbons in a single step. This process bypasses the traditional high-temperature conversion to carbon monoxide, reducing energy requirements and simplifying the production chain. The current pilot plant produces 50 kg of fuel per day with a 50 percent synthesis yield. The team aims to scale this technology to commercial plants capable of producing over 100,000 tons of sustainable liquid fuels annually, integrating with renewable energy for a full Power-to-Liquids system.
