Korea Zinc reports 15.3% cut in greenhouse gas emissions, details ESG strategy in 2025 sustainability report

Korea Zinc released its 2025 Sustainability Report on July 1, showing a 15.3% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2019 levels. The company, a major non-ferrous metals producer, exceeded its interim carbon reduction target and reaffirmed a 2050 net-zero goal under a roadmap established in 2023. The report covers five key ESG priorities: occupational safety, climate change, ethics, pollution management, and resource recycling. The report also details the company's Troika Drive growth strategy, which focuses on renewable energy, green hydrogen, battery materials, and recycling. Korea Zinc highlighted its planned integrated smelter in Tennessee, Project Crucible, as part of its effort to secure critical mineral supply chains. The company invested about 310 billion won ($200 million) in safety and production facilities last year and plans further investments in 2025. The report was prepared using GRI Standards and verified by the British Standards Institution.
