Korea Western Power (KOWEPO) held a workshop with top management to accelerate its renewable energy and AI transformation plans. The utility aims to secure 13.9 GW of renewable capacity by 2040, aligning with South Korea's First Basic Plan for Renewable Energy. Key projects include the Taean Clean Energy Development Complex and expansion of solar and wind power. On the AI side, KOWEPO discussed using physical AI for power plant safety and maintenance, plus generative AI for task-specific platforms. The company also reviewed 2025 management evaluation results and financial improvement measures. President Lee Jeong-bok stressed that renewable energy and AI are critical for future competitiveness and urged swift policy implementation.
